    RENEWING:

You can renew your library item(s) if:

    • the item is from the general collection (i.e. not a 3 hours, 1 day, 3 days or 7 day loan item)
    • the item is not overdue
    • you have no outstanding overdue fines and/or items
    • no other borrower has made a request for this item (i.e. placed a HOLD)
    • your library account is up-to-date
    • you have not reached the maximum number of renewals for the item

    RENEW ONLINE:

If you would like to renew an item you have checked out, you can do so online using your Library Account Login

Click on "Renew My Materials". When prompted for your USER ID, enter your student # (example: 100123456).
When prompted for your PIN, enter the last four digits of your telephone number.

When you log in you will have the option to Renew Materials. If your item is available for renewal you will be able to do so here.

You can also renew in person or by phone.

    HOLDS

If a library book that you want is checked out to someone else, you may place a hold on it. This ensures that you will be notified when the item becomes available.

Please note that you cannot place holds on Reserve items, journals, magazines, videos, DVDs, films, or any item that is currently available in the catalogue.

Holds may be placed through the Library catalogue as follows:

    • Search for and select the item you would like to place a hold on
    • If the item is checked out, click on Place Hold
    • Login to your Library Account, entering your GBC ID # and four digit PIN (the last four digits of your phone number)
    • Select your location and Place Hold

When your hold is ready for pick-up, you will be telephoned or emailed. For all students, email notices will be sent to your George Brown Student email account. Be sure to check it regularly. Items from the regular collection will be held for you at the Circulation/Help Desk for 7 days. Items on short term loan will be held for you at the Circulation/Help Desk for 3 days.

    FINES (Overdue Fines)

Library users are responsible for all transactions made on their cards and are subject to overdue fines and any charges for lost or damaged materials. Lost cards must be reported immediately to prevent misuse.

Library borrowing privileges are suspended when outstanding fines exceed $10.00. Transcripts may be withheld until the student record is cleared.

You can check your Library Account for any outstanding items or fines.
