Most books from the regular library collection may be signed out for 2 weeks. Some specially marked, heavily used, or required course reading materials may have restricted loan periods such as: 3 hours, 1 day, 3 days or 7 days.
The length of the loan period varies with the status of the borrower. Please consult the schedule below for loan periods and renewals for items from the regular collection:

The initial loan period and any subsequent renewals are at the discretion of the lending library.
You can renew your library item(s) if:
RENEW ONLINE:
If you would like to renew an item you have checked out, you can do so online using your Library Account Login. Click on "Renew My Materials". When prompted for your USER ID, enter your student # (example: 100123456). When prompted for your PIN, enter the last four digits of your telephone number.
When you log in you will have the option to Renew Materials. If your item is available for renewal you will be able to do so here.You can also renew in person or by phone.
If a library book that you want is checked out to someone else, you may place a hold on it. This ensures that you will be notified when the item becomes available.
Please note that you cannot place holds on Reserve items, journals, magazines, videos, DVDs, films, or any item that is currently available in the catalogue.

When your hold is ready for pick-up, you will be telephoned or emailed. For all students, email notices will be sent to your George Brown Student email account. Be sure to check it regularly. Items from the regular collection will be held for you at the Circulation/Help Desk for 7 days. Items on short term loan will be held for you at the Circulation/Help Desk for 3 days.
Library users are responsible for all transactions made on their cards and are subject to overdue fines and any charges for lost or damaged materials. Lost cards must be reported immediately to prevent misuse.
Library borrowing privileges are suspended when outstanding fines exceed $10.00. Transcripts may be withheld until the student record is cleared.
You can check your Library Account for any outstanding items or fines.
